Plantacare® 2000 UP, a product name for Decyl Glucoside from BASF, is a non-ionic, plant-derived surfactant used in cosmetics for its mild cleansing, good foaming, and emulsifying properties.
It is is used in a variety of cosmetic products: Baby care, Face cleansers, Shampoos and hair care, Liquid soaps and shower/bath products
It is derived from coconut oil and glucose and is completely biodegradable. Good foam booster. Unfortunately it tends to liquefy the other surfactants. Usually added in low percentage. surfactant-cleanser, Liquid, ECOCERT approved, rich and quick-forming foam, but short lasting, low viscosity. it has a shorter chain length. It creates less foam (its foam is less stable) than coco glucoside but it does add more viscosity to a product.
It is ideal for sensitive skin and baby products due to its excellent skin compatibility and is suitable for natural and sustainable cosmetic formulations, including those certified by COSMOS and NaTrue.
