INCI: Ocimum Basilicum leaf extract (and) Aqua (and) Glycerin
Basil leaf extract, obtained by filtration after a long soaking of the plant in a mixture of water and vegetable glycerin.
Basil extract exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, the mechanism of which is a complex interplay between pro-inflammatory mediator inhibition and anti-inflammatory cytokine stimulation.
Basil leaf extract is used in cosmetics for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties, which help protect the skin from damage, soothe redness, and fight acne-causing bacteria. The extract, derived from basil leaves, contains active compounds like flavonoids and phenolic acids (including rosmarinic acid) that can improve skin hydration, refine pores, and offer a pleasant scent. It is found in products for skin and hair, such as creams, tonics, shampoos, and conditioners, and is particularly beneficial for sensitive, oily, and acne-prone skin.
